Chapman, Rivett and Stirling

The ACT Government completed a study of the traffic conditions on Streeton Drive and surrounding streets in Chapman, Rivett and Stirling in 2013. The aim of this project was to identify traffic concerns in the area, develop options for improvement and recommend a program of works.

The study involved a technical analysis of traffic speed, volume and crash data in the area. Consultation with the local community was also an important part of the study. A traffic management scheme was then finalised to improve traffic conditions in the area.

The priority traffic management measures were implemented on several streets in 2014, 2017 and 2018 to mitigate concerns regarding speeding, pedestrian safety and intersection safety.

These measures included linemarking improvements, pedestrian refuge islands and speed humps on Streeton Drive, Darwinia Terrace, Bunbury Street, Perry Drive and Fremantle Drive.

The streets in Chapman, Rivett and Stirling will continue to be monitored, and traffic conditions reviewed prior to any further implementations.

Any future implementations will be done in consultation with directly affected residents.
