Macarthur, Fadden and Gowrie

The ACT Government completed a study of the traffic conditions on Coyne Street and surrounding streets in Macarthur, Fadden and Gowrie in 2013. The aim of this project was to identify traffic concerns in the area, develop options for improvement and recommend a program of works.

The study involved a technical analysis of traffic speed, volume and crash data in the area. Consultation with the local community was also an important part of the study. A traffic management scheme was then finalised to improve traffic conditions in the area.

The priority traffic management measures were implemented on several streets in 2014 and 2017 to mitigate concerns regarding speeding, pedestrian safety and intersection safety.

These measures included pedestrian refuge islands and speed cushions on Coyne Street, Bugden Avenue, Castleton Crescent and Bramston Street.

The streets in Macarthur, Fadden and Gowrie will continue to be monitored, and traffic conditions reviewed prior to any further implementations.

Any future implementations will be done in consultation with directly affected residents.
