Parkinson Street Public Transport and Parking changes

A new bus network is coming in 2019.

To get ready for the new network, improvement works will be carried out at the two main bus stops on Parkinson Street, Weston to provide extra space for the higher frequency buses, seven days a week.

New parking spaces will be marked along the street as well as changes to the Weston Group Centre’s southern car park. The car park will be upgraded to improve safety and traffic flow with 14 additional car parking spaces to be provided.

Four new trees will also be planted to replace two existing trees which will be removed due to their poor condition thus providing an even better experience to shop or catch public transport.

Work will commence on the northern verge of Parkinson Street in December 2018. Both Parkinson Street and the carpark will remain open during the construction period, with some traffic diversions and changed access arrangements during works.

The improvements will provide better parking, better pubic transport and improved car park safety.

Work is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019.

Existing car parking arrangements will continue during the construction period.
The ACT Government will endeavour to undertake works resulting with noise and dust outside of peak shopping hours.
