Gungahlin Town Centre Bus Facilities

Project background

The Gungahlin Town Centre bus facilities upgrade was a $3.325 million project toupgrade public transport facilities around the town centre precinct.

Scope of works

The project saw the construction of a major bus station onHibberson Street which caters for three buses at one time and provides increasedshelter and seating.

The project also included:

  • new bike racks
  • real-time bus information displays
  • two new bus stops on Hibberson Street near Hinder Street
  • a new bus stop on each side of Anthony Rolfe Avenue (west of Gribble Street)
  • two new bus layover facilities on Kate Crace Street and Anthony Rolfe Avenue which allow ACTION to provide an improved service to the Gungahlin region.

The project helps the ACT Government in achieving its target ofincreasing the use of public transport for work trips to 16% by 2026.

Construction was completed in May 2014.
