As at Monday 24 September 2018, work continues on the light rail stop on Northbourne Avenue at Alinga Street and we have begun work on the Northbourne Verge project that reclaims the road for public use.
You will see fencing in place, reduced speed limit signs, lane closures and construction workers.
We are making the Central Business District of Canberra more attractive, safer and easier to get around. We are delivering a new integrated transport network that needs to be supported by an effective interchange in the City for pedestrians, cyclists as well as bus and light rail commuters.
The new interchange and city improvements will deliver the light rail stop connecting to an extended bus interchange.
We will also get ready for the City to Woden light rail by completing work in the Northbourne verges delivering new pedestrian areas as well as seating, lighting, a cycle path and outdoor dining within distinctive formal landscaping outside Canberra’s historic Sydney and Melbourne buildings.
We are out and about talking to businesses and stakeholders as these construction works progress.
Majority of construction works will begin from late September to the end of 2018.
