Shopping Centres

Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) has a regular maintenance program for local shops, which includes litter picking, cleaning of surfaces, pruning of bushes, lifting of trees, servicing of bins, daily cleaning of toilets, pressure cleaning of paving as required, removal of graffiti from Government assets, repairs to damaged street furniture, minor horticultural maintenance of garden beds, and removal of leaves during autumn. Meet some of our team in the below video and have a look at what they do for our city.

At TCCS we also look after the upgrade of public space in local shopping centres. The upgrade work aims to encourage the use and enjoyment of public places by all members of the community, including people with a disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, older people, indigenous people, young people and families.

Shopping centre upgrades may include new or improved lighting, park/street furniture, pathways and paving, playground equipment, integrated community artwork, new signage, improved traffic and car parking arrangements and new landscaping and tree planting.

As part of the upgrade consultation process, members of the local community are encouraged to provide input on the early concept plans to ensure the upgrades address their priority needs and reflect the centre's identity.
