Welcome to Birrigai

Located adjacent to the Tidbinbilla Range and Namadgi National Park, Birrigai is an easy 40 minute drive from the Canberra city centre. Set amongst a beautiful natural landscape, Birrigai is surrounded by mountain peaks, native woodland and sheltered streams where native wildlife is in abundance. Birrigai is a place of significance in the culture and heritage of the Ngunnawal nation, the local indigenous peoples and traditional custodians of the lands on which Birrigai is situated.

Birrigai offers a range of outdoor adventure activities, cultural and education programs to ACT, regional, interstate and international schools and visitors. Delivering experiential education and outdoor adventure programs to more than 18,000 school students each year from preschool to Year 12, programs are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and can be tailored to meet specific needs, age groups and outcomes. At Birrigai, we provide and model challenging, insightful and personally meaningful experiences in an environment that allows reflection on our own well-being and that of our planet.

The site employs expert teachers from the ACT Government Education Directorate as well as officers from Transport Canberra & City Services. All programs operate within relevant legislative frameworks and industry leading risk management standards. Birrigai delivers its programs onsite, at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

Birrigai has onsite accommodation for up to 186 people and twin share accommodation for an additional 12 people, with self or fully catered options. It also opens its doors to community and corporate groups for specialist professional learning, team-building and leadership programs, and for the accommodation and catering of workshops, seminars and special events.
