Canberra Brickworks access road and Dudley Street upgrade

The ACT Government is constructing the Canberra Brickworks access road and upgrade of Dudley Street in Yarralumla to keep our city moving as our city grows.

Dudley Street upgrade

Dudley Street, Yarralumla is a busy road in the Territory that currently experiences high traffic volumes, particularly during morning and afternoon peak hours. The road was not constructed with the intention of carrying the volume of traffic it does now, as such it no longer meets current design standards and needs upgrading.

The upgrade works will include:

  • improvements to the vertical alignment of the road to make it safer
  • widening both lanes of the road to allow better and safer traffic flow
  • a dedicated shared path along the northern side of the road and a path network that will cater for active travel
  • new bus stops that link to the path network
  • a formalised pedestrian crossing with a pedestrian refuge at the bus stops

Canberra Brickworks access road

As part of the upgrade works a new access road into the Canberra Brickworks development precinct will be constructed.  This will connect to a roundabout on Dudley Street towards the Cotter Street end of the road. The new access road is planned to be operational prior to the Canberra Brickworks development commencing. This access road will be used only to enter and exit the new Canberra Brickworks development precinct and will not be a through road.

If you have any enquiries related to the above works, you can contact the project team via email at
