New street furniture and bins for shopping centres and parks

As part of the ACT Government's urban improvement program, new street furniture and larger bin facilities were installed at 10 shopping centres and three local parks in Canberra.

Thirteen priority sites were identified as part of an asset condition audit of Canberra's shopping centres and parks, undertaken in 2012. These 13 sites received a combination of new seats, benches, picnic settings and bins.

The new street furniture was designed to be more robust and accessible for all ages and, where possible, complement the colours of existing furniture in the area.

In addition, new 240 litre bins replaced some of the existing 120 litre bins at eight of the 13 sites.

Shopping centre sites selected include Kingston; Manuka; Mawson; Dickson; Petrie Plaza in Civic; Jamison; Hawker; Curtin; Kippax and Watson. The three park were Bowen Park, Acton Park and Mount Goodwin in Macgregor.

Below is a list of what street furniture and bin upgrades were delivered at each site.
